Hello Friends,
My name is Ernie Thomas let me give you a little history about myself. I was born on 14 September 1925 and raised in Rushville Ohio. I have 4 sisters, Ella Marie, Kathleen (deceased), Erma & Florabelle and a brother George. I have also been blessed with wonderful brother-in-laws and a sister-in-law. I really consider them too as my brothers and sister. We all are very close.
I was a Marine during WWII and served in the Pacific then upon my return
from the war I was employed by the Anchor Hocking Glass Corporation (now the Newell Corporation) for 40 years before retiring during the summer of 1982. I enjoyed those years at Anchor Hocking where I met many people and had many friends there as well. I have really enjoyed my retirement years too. I can get up when I want and basically go anywhere when I want with no restrictions. I visit my friends here in Huber Heights at the local Wal Mart store. We chat for a while and fellowship over a cup of coffee.
Since coming to the Dayton Ohio area I have become quite attached to the City of Huber Heights. A few years back I did volunteer work at Carriage Hill Farms which is a part of the Metro Parks here in Western Ohio. I used
to milk the cows and feed the horses as well as other related farm chores plus their 1880 garden. I also did school tours for the farm. However, due to my age and my lack of ability to really get around I had to retire from volunteering at Carriage Hill Farms. If you want to go back in history and have some fun doing it just stop by the Farm in Huber Heights. I know you would enjoy it.
I am a member of the Huber Heights Church of God and have many friends there. I also have numerous friends at the Bath Presbyterian Church which is one of the oldest churches in the state.
In closing, I consider everyone to be a friend for I shall pass this way but once; any good, therefore, that I can do or any kindness that I can show to any human being, let me do it now. Let me not defer nor neglect it, for I shall not pass this way again.
Well enough about myself. I hope you have enjoyed a little history about myself and that you enjoyed browsing this site.
Good Bye Friend!
