This farm used to be the Dornbirer farm purchased from David Cooperrider. He made bricks on his farm which he used to build his own house one of the finest in Perry County Ohio. He was superintendent of Sunday Schools in St. Paul's Lutheran Church.
He was married to Margaret HUMBARGER (daughter of John HUMBARGER and Mary Ann BASORE) on 26 May 1859. Margaret HUMBARGER was born on 26 Oct 1838. She died on 16 Jan 1863. Bernard MECHLING and Margaret HUMBARGER had the following children:
