38. Jacob (John Jacob) MECHLING was born on 20 Aug 1797 in Westmoreland Co. Pennsylvania. He was baptized on 23 Aug 1798 in First Lutheran Church Greensburg Westmoreland Co. Pennsylvania. He died about 1887 in Iowa. He was baptized into the LDS church on 25 Jun 1977 in the London England LDS temple. He was endowed on 20 Aug 1977 in the London England LDS temple. He was sealed to parents on 10 Nov 1977 in the London England LDS temple. OCCUPATION: Sheriff of Armstrong County Pennsylvania. RESIDENCES: In 1854 he moved to Iowa settling in Iowa Township Washington County.

He was married to Mary ERWIN (daughter of Joseph ERWIN) on 29 Mar 1822. Jacob (John Jacob) MECHLING and Mary ERWIN had the following children:

child195 i. Michael MECHLING was born on 24 May 1824 in Armstrong Co. Pennsylvania. He died on 6 May 1880 in Lake Valley California.
child196 ii. Eliza Ann MECHLING was born on 20 Jun 1826 in Armstrong Co. Pennsylvania. She died on 15 Apr 1907.
child197 iii. Mary C. MECHLING was born in Aug 1831 in Armstrong Co. Pennsylvania.
child198 iv. Rosanna E. MECHLING was born in Aug 1834 in Armstrong Co. Pennsylvania.
child199 v. Jacob H. MECHLING was born on 24 Jul 1838 in Kittanning Boro Armstrong County Pennsylvania.. He died on 2 Apr 1917.

He was married to Barbara KLINE on 9 Jan 1845.
